Well folks, we are now nearing the end of the final week of an incredible Brandon Valley Marching Band season. As of writing, we are preparing for the final competition which will have taken place by the time this article is published.

Throughout the season, our band reached brilliant heights, placing 1st at Rosemount, 1st at Marshall Minnesota, and 1st at Sioux Falls Festival of Bands with best percussion and an overall score of 83.85! Debuting a challenging new piece: “Coursing Through My Veins” (To find more about the show itself, see the top stories.). These accomplishments reflect the dedication and hard work put in by every member of the band.

As the season draws to a close, band director Tyler Nettestad shared his thoughts on the band’s and guard’s success. “I would say it’s going incredibly smooth.” he said with a smile. “We’ve won first place at every competition.” He went on to highlight that the band is undefeated. As the season wraps up, it’s clear that the band’s hard work and commitment has paid off. With everything running smoothly and an undefeated record leading into the final competition, viewers are eager to see how it turned out.

We cannot forget our beloved seniors as we approach the end of the season. They’ve been the backbone of the band, bringing not just talent, but also a sense of community, teamwork and fun. When senior Luke McFarland was asked about this season, he stated, “This has probably been my favorite season so far.” When reflecting on it being his last year, he added, “I am a little sad but also happy that we’re leaving it off strong.” While it’s bittersweet to see the seniors go, we’re excited for what lies ahead for them. Here’s to the memories and the impact they've made.

Cheers to our seniors! You’ll be missed!
