National Veterans and Military Families Month
Kailee Schneider, Staff Writer
November 12, 2024
Since it was first declared in 1996, every November is to recognize as well as honor veteran and military families with current or deceased United States Armed Forces members. Each November, the current president signs a proclamation declaring November as Military Family Month. National Veterans and Military Families Month acknowledges the commitment and contributions these families must face being away from their loved ones. Family is most often our biggest supporter. They provide encouragement and love; likewise, the same is true for military personnel. Having family members in the military affects people, whether through moving for work or extended separation. Supporting military and veterans families is a great way to show appreciation. Especially during the holiday season, military members who are deployed can rest easy while knowing their families are cared for.
This November you can support military families by:
-
Flying a flag
-
Making a card
-
Offer specific help to military families
-
Be a friend
-
Include military families
-
Be there to listen
